He was a partner and board member of Thacher Profitt and Wood Law Company before forming Fortress. Later, Nardone joined Blackrock Financial Management, a related financial firm contrary to his law specialty as its co-principal a position he held until 1997. He then joined UBS for a short while before forming Fortress the following year where he is working to date.
